What are Developmental Milestones?
Developmental Milestones refers to set of functional skills or age-specific tasks that most children can do at a certain age range. There are 6 different areas that make up a child's development.

Gross Motor Skills:
The movement and coordination involving the use of large muscles. These include actions such as running, hopping, jumping, crawling, etc.
Fine Motor Skills:
The use of small muscle movements which require hand-eye coordination. These include actions such as buttoning, writing, drawing, picking up small items, etc.
Social-communication Skills:
The ability to speak, use body language and gestures, communicating and understanding what others are saying. These includes hearing and responding to loud sounds, babbling, forming short sentences, etc.
Social Skills:
How a child interacts, cooperate and develop relationships with the people around him/her. Social skills also refer to how the child responds to the feelings of others.
Cognitive Skills:
The ability of a child to learn, understand and apply whatever sensory information they take in from the environment. These include solving problems, understanding concepts such as time and sequence, etc.
Adaptive Skills:
The ability to function and meet the demand of one's environment using practical and everyday skills that are necessary to effectively and independently take care of oneself and interact with other people.
